What is Povidone Iodine?
Povidone iodine is a loose complex of elemental iodine combined with polymer support, and povidone acts as a carrier and solubilizer. It is yellow brown to brown red amorphous powder at room temperature. Slightly odorous, soluble in water or ethanol, acidic in aqueous solution. Povidone iodine aqueous solution without iodine tincture disadvantages, light color, easy elution, small stimulation to the mucosa, no ethanol deiodination, no corrosion, and low toxicity.
Povidone iodine is a broad-spectrum and powerful disinfectant, which has a strong killing effect on viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold spores.
